Climate change is a global problem, but the problem begins locally. Consequently, one of the most effective ways for us to mitigate our contributions to climate change is to take action locally. Changing the way we build and operate our cities can have major effects on greenhouse gas emissions
Climate action plans are comprehensive roadmaps that outline the specific activities that an organization, agency, or community will undertake to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Climate action plans build upon the information gathered by greenhouse gas inventories and generally focus on those activities that can achieve the relatively greatest emission reductions in the most cost effective manner. The individual characteristics of each community’s economy, resource base, and political structure provide different opportunities for dealing with climate change.

GHG emissions reduction mapping allows a community to identify long-range emissions reductions goals and establish interim goals.
