Environmental Footprint
The paleBLUEdot environmental footprint methodology is based on the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) process making it robust and science-based. Like an LCA, an environmental footprinting study measures all quantifiable environmental impacts over the life cycle of a product, business/organizational entity, service offering, as well as building construction. Impacts assessed include emissions, water consumption, air and soil impacts, resource use and depletion, and impacts from land and water use.
Environmental footprint assessments provide valuable information to help an organization reduce environmental impact and waste, reduce costs, focus product development, and assure accuracy of environmental claims. Conducting an environmental footprint assessments creates and organizes metrics that can be shared and compared across a company as well as supply chain partners.
A paleBLUEdot environmental footprint assessment consists of four basic phases:
Goals and Scoping
Life Cycle Inventory
Life Cycle Impact Assessment
Interpretation and Action Planning
