Kane County Climate Action Implementation Plan
From fall of 2022 through spring of 2024, Kane County created a Climate Action Implementation Plan (CAIP). The CAIP establishes goals and provides a menu of detailed actions aligning with the Regional Climate Action Plan. The CAIP seeks to be a tool supporting Kane County, its communities, businesses, and residents in identifying and implementing actions to increase our resilience and meet climate goals.
Below is the final draft plan being reviewed and finalized by the county.
Creating the Kane County Climate Action Implementation Plan
Kane County adopted the Greenest Region Compact (GRC), the largest sustainability collective of communities in the United States, in 2019. Communities within the GRC began the process of creating a Regional Climate Action Plan later that year. The Climate Action Planning Process is led by the Metropolitan Mayors Caucus, with support from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the European Union in partnership with the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.
