Progress Report

In January 2016 the City of Maplewood engaged paleBLUEdot LLC to prepare a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) baseline inventory for City-Wide emissions as well as for City Operations. The results of that GHG Baseline effort were published in June of 2016. In February 2026, the City of Maplewood engaged paleBLUEdot to prepare a City-Wide and City Operations GHG Inventory Update for the year 2024 (FY2024). The results of this update as well as a comparison against the Baseline Inventory is included in the report below.

This Greenhouse Gas Inventory Update report is designed to meet the requirements for the Greenstep Cities program, but also to provide a framework for on-going dialogue in support of the City’s commitment to the US Mayors Climate Protection Agreement and the goals included in the City’s Climate Mitigation Plan.

The City’s 2026 Climate Mitigation Plan established a goal of reducing community-wide GHG emissions in line with the State of Minnesota GHG reduction target of 100% by 2050. The 2024 GHG inventory shows the City is on track on track to meet that goal.
