The Town of Middlebury, Vermont has selected paleBLUEdot to lead the first phase of a new, collaborative climate action planning effort between the Town and Middlebury College. This foundational phase will build the capacity for both partners to jointly implement climate and energy initiatives, setting the stage for a full Comprehensive Climate Action Plan in Phase II.
Phase I: Building the Framework
The initial phase focuses on aligning goals, identifying needs, and clarifying collaboration strategies between the Town and College. paleBLUEdot will guide the process through three key tasks:
Laying the groundwork: Reviewing how the Town and College reached this point, identifying key concerns, potential challenges, and the stakeholders who should be involved.
Organizational readiness: Determining what processes, approvals, and timing will be necessary to authorize a full planning effort.
Deliverables: Defining individual and shared goals, outlining a joint community engagement plan, and developing a scope of work, budget, and schedule for Phase II—the full Comprehensive Climate Action Plan.
By focusing first on collaboration and process design, Middlebury is ensuring that its climate action planning will be strategic, inclusive, and effective. This approach will help both the Town and College address climate challenges in partnership, strengthening resilience while advancing shared sustainability goals.
paleBLUEdot is honored to support Middlebury in this important first step and looks forward to helping the Town and College move together toward a comprehensive climate action strategy.
