paleBLUEdot was selected by the Town of Peterborough’s Energy Planning Committee to create the Town’s first Renewable Energy Action Plan. The Town of Peterborough, New Hampshire, is a community of 6,500 in the Monadnock Region and is bordered by mountains and located along the Contoocook River.
Peterborough has long been at the forefront of municipal energy conservation. For nearly twenty years, the town has undertaken countless activities and initiatives to reduce its energy usage, often primarily as a cost saving measure, but with the perhaps greater secondary benefit of reducing the town’s part in global climate change. The Town has established a goal to achieve 100% renewable energy community-wide by 2030. The Renewable Energy Action Plan will establish a roadmap for the Town to reach this challenging goal.
paleBLUEdot was selected based on the team’s extensive prior experience in greenhouse gas inventories, climate change mitigation, community resiliency, municipal sustainability, urban planning and economic development. The paleBLUEdot Renewable Energy Action Plan effort will include:
Development of community-wide Greenhouse Gas inventory for 2021 and emission projections for years 2030, 2040, and 2050.
Development of a community-wide Renewable Energy Potentials study
Recommend community-specific renewable energy, climate adaptation and mitigation actions that the Town and community can undertake with an analysis of barriers and opportunities.
