paleBLUEdot was selected by West Central Initiative to support regional climate action planning. The effort will result in a Climate Action Plan for Minnesota Economic Development Region 4. The final plan will include individual climate action plans and implementation toolkits for all nine counties (Becker, Clay, Douglas, Grant, Otter Tail, Pope, Stevens, Traverse and Wilkin) and the White Earth Nation of Region 4.
The paleBLUEdot regional Climate Aciton Plan effort will include:
Development of community-wide Greenhouse Gas inventories for 2021 and emission projections for years 2030, 2040, and 2050.
Development of a Climate Vulnerability and Risk Assessment meeting Global Covenant of Mayors (GCoM) requirements
Conducting a community-wide Ground Cover, Heat Island, and Carbon Sequestration Assessment and Recommendations report.
Development of a community-wide Renewable Energy Potentials study
Creation of a community-wide Climate Action Baseline Assessment and Strategic Goals Recommendations report defining a community-specific emissions mitigation targets and goals
Recommend community-specific sustainability, climate adaptation and mitigation actions that West Central Initiative, and the region’s county and Tribal governments can undertake with an analysis of barriers and opportunities.
