The City of Woodbury has selected paleBLUEdot, a Minnesota-based sustainability and climate consulting firm, to develop its first Environmental Stewardship Plan. This plan will serve as a roadmap to guide the city’s long-term vision for environmental sustainability, resilience, and community well-being.
Woodbury has a long history of environmental leadership, identifying Natural Environment and Sustainability as critical success factors since 1997. In 2018, “Environmental Stewardship” was formally adopted as one of the City Council’s priorities, and in 2022 it was elevated to a Council Strategic Initiative. The Environmental Stewardship Plan will build on this foundation by establishing clear, achievable goals and strategies that reflect the community’s values while addressing the challenges of a changing climate.
paleBLUEdot was selected for its extensive experience leading more than 70 sustainability, climate, and energy planning efforts across the Midwest and beyond. Led by Principal Ted Redmond and President Colleen Redmond, the paleBLUEdot team will partner with city staff, the Parks and Natural Resources Commission, and a broad range of stakeholders to create a plan that is rooted in science, responsive to community needs, and equitable in approach.
The planning process will include a robust baseline assessment, greenhouse gas inventory, climate vulnerability analysis, and renewable energy potential study. Community voices will play a central role, with engagement opportunities including public meetings, surveys, and targeted outreach to underrepresented groups. The final plan will feature a prioritization guide, cost-benefit analyses, implementation strategies, and tools for tracking progress.
