Colleen Redmond, paleBLUEdot's principal leading community and youth engagement, is excited to share that her session proposal titled In Search of Hope: Teaching Climate Emotions is currently under consideration for the South By Southwest (SXSW) Educational Conference 2026!

The SXSW EDU Conference & Festival is an annual event held in Austin, Texas, that brings together educators, researchers, policy leaders, and innovators from across the education landscape. Part of the broader SXSW family of events, SXSW EDU focuses on driving meaningful change in teaching and learning through collaboration, creativity, and forward-thinking ideas. The conference features interactive sessions, hands-on workshops, film screenings, and networking opportunities centered around K–12, higher education, edtech, equity, and student well-being.

We are honored to have Colleen’s work in the running for SXSW EDU—but here’s the thing: community voting plays a big role in the selection process, so your support could really make a difference!

Here’s how it works:

  • 30% is determined by public input through community voting

  • 40% is evaluated by the SXSW EDU Advisory Board, composed of education professionals and thought leaders

  • 30% is assessed by the SXSW EDU staff team

If Colleen’s work helping youth navigate climate emotions resonates with you, please consider voting and spreading the word. Your support is key in elevating conversations around climate literacy, student well-being, and hope-based climate education.

Head to panelpicker.sxsw.com and search for the title: In Search of Hope: Teaching Climate Emotions to vote for Colleen’s session and send her to the SXSW EDU stage in March!
