We’re proud to share that Colleen Redmond, Principal at paleBLUEdot, has been awarded 2025 Norine Odland Award in Children's Literature. This prestigious award supports Ph.D. and M.A. candidates in children’s and adolescent literature whose research demonstrates exceptional promise and meaningful application. Selection is based on the strength of a candidate’s academic work, teaching or library experience, and their proposed project’s potential impact.
As part of her fellowship, Colleen will collaborate with the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital to enhance its library for young patients. Drawing from her expertise in climate literacy and youth engagement, she will curate a collection of children’s books focused on climate themes and create accompanying activities that support emotional well-being. Resources such as these support her HOPE Framework. Colleen’s HOPE Framework (Healing Opportunities for Processing Eco-Grief) is a story-based strategy for helping children, youth, and adults process climate emotions such as eco-grief and hope.
At paleBLUEdot, we are passionate about the intersection of education, emotional resilience, and climate action. Colleen’s award reflects our commitment to supporting communities—especially young people—as they navigate the challenges of a changing climate with knowledge, compassion, and hope.
